Heartsâ striker Mahatma Otoo |
Hearts of Oak's lead striker Mahatma Otoo believes an injection of self-belief was critical to the club's victory on Sunday against an improved Heart of Lions side.
Hearts won the game by a solitary Mahatma goal in the first half, after he was put through by James Abban, who placed an inch-perfect pass to the striker to convert from close range.
The striker's goal was all what Hearts need in week 16 at the Kpando Park to run away with maximum points, while ensuring that Hearts collect four points out of the total six that had to be shared between the two sides in the two league games.
According to Mahatma who spoke to Hearts News moments after the big game, it was the spirited and dividend displays that helped the side collect all three points at Kpando.
With Berekum Chelsea yet to clear their week 16 game, his goal has shot the Phobians to second spot and kept the team's title dream very much alive.
"I said that we have the character and the determination to stay in this competition and that proved decisive today against Lions. It was a good test of our mental qualities, and I think we passed it in a positive way", Mahatma said.
He added that, "there is a good spirit in the squad and that came out. It was a bit harsh for us to have drawn the first round game but today, we proved that we are capable of winning at every venue. Once you get back to winning ways I believe nothing can stop us from annexing the title. We got the desired restart we need which will help us more to keep the fight up".
